As part of our preparations for Memorial Day, Veterans Memorial Park Pensacola held its annual Spring-cleaning event this past Saturday. Coordinators and Park stewards were humbled by the number and enthusiasm of volunteers who showed up to help clean, paint, and landscape the park grounds.
"It's great to see so many people step up,” Park Foundation Board Member Niels Andersen said. "It really shows how important these memorials and the sacrifices they represent are to our community."
Over 60 people gave up their Saturday to help get the Park squared away for the Memorial Day Ceremony. Along with the individuals who came to show their support, several local & National organizations also helped by assembling teams of volunteers. Groups such as The Florida Chief Petty Officers Association, Navy Federal Credit Union, The Mission Continues, as well as Marines and Sailors from the various training support units and schoolhouses aboard NAS Pensacola and Corry Station stand out as major contributors.
