Joe Gilchrist: Gulf Coast Community Leader & Benefactor of Veterans Memorial Park Pensacola
Remembering Joe Gilchrist - the Patron Saint of Songwriters and an American Patriot

We are saddened to learn of the passing of philanthropist and founding father of the world-renowned Flora-Bama Lounge, Package, and Oyster Bar Joe Gilchrist. He is remembered fondly by the countless members of both the musician and Military/Veteran communities who visited the Flora-Bama as they passed through Northwest Florida. We would like to recognize Joe on behalf of the Veterans Memorial Park Foundation of Pensacola for his patriotism, generosity, and patronage of The Park. His recent donation of $10,000 to The Park exemplifies that generosity, as well as his commitment to honoring those we've lost. It is in this same spirit that we now honor and remember him as a true American Patriot.

Here, we have a video of Joe sharing a few stories about his family, Patriotism during the Vietnam War, and his buddy's Corvette. This was taken during the Vietnam 50th Anniversary Commemoration at The Park.

Below, you will find a Facebook announcement from Flora-Bama and the Gilchrist Family.
